SAN FRANCISCO – March 2, 2026 – The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) announced it has partnered with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower organization to participate in the Sunflower Lanyard program at the Airport. The green lanyard with sunflowers discreetly signals that the wearer, or a member in the group, has an invisible disability.

"We are proud to join the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard Program," said Airport Director Mike Nakornkhet. "SFO is committed to making air travel more comfortable, accessible, and inclusive for all. Joining this global initiative helps ensure we can achieve that goal for travelers with hidden disabilities."

The Sunflower Lanyard enables individuals with non-apparent disabilities to subtly communicate that they may need some support. A hidden disability is a condition that may not be immediately noticeable but can impact a person’s ability to move, communicate, or cope in busy or unfamiliar environments. Examples include anxiety, hearing or vision loss, autism, learning difficulties, chronic pain or fatigue, respiratory conditions, dementia, and other non-visible conditions.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard Program is available at 340 airports in 70 countries and on 31 airlines worldwide.
